Meta Coverage Guidelines

Definition: The extent or scope of the content of the resource.

Obligation: recommended.

Guidelines main coverage:
1. Use of the COVERAGE element will be determined by the specific application scheme. For general use, the following recommendations apply.
2. Prefer SUBJECT to COVERAGE where the resource is about a geographical area.
3. Use COVERAGE only when necessary and in addition to SUBJECT to indicate spatial or temporal characteristics of the resource not covered by SUBJECT.
4. May include spatial coverage, jurisdiction, temporal coverage (i.e. time period), or spatial coverage.
5. The geographic locations or areas that are covered and/or discussed in the resource.
