Day at Smithfield - Medieval Mounted Play Day

Modesto, California

Judge: Lady Guene Annwyll

Autocrat/Show Steward: Meisterin Else Hünrvogt

*****Proceeds to benefit the Shire of Canale’s Equestrian Clinicians Travel Fund*****

Come join us in the shady, covered arenas of Double N Ranch to recreate the wonders of the Smithfield Horse Market from the 12th through the 16th Centuries.

“In a suburb immediately outside one of the gates there is a field that is smooth, both in name and in fact. Every Friday (unless it is an important holy day requiring solemnity) crowds are drawn to the show and sale of fine horses. This attracts the earls, barons and knights who are then in the city, along with many citizens, whether to buy or just to watch.” William Fizt-Stephens "Description of the City of London" (1170)

There is no site fee for spectators, but we are grateful to anyone, rider or spectator, who would like to sponsor a class.  Spectators are encouraged to wear an attempt at pre-1600’s attire.  If you need help with clothing or would like to sponsor a class please contact the show management (nancyreimers@gmail.com) in advance.  Spectators are asked to vote for the horse that they most want to buy to determine the Populace’s Choice Award.
