Yule - Barony of Fettburg (Manteca CA)

Yule is a time of traditions, mythologies, games, and merriment of all sorts. Come celebrate the richness of the season with us. We will be serving up ham cooked in Cavache and turkey cooked by our fabulous Ivan. It is a potluck, so come share some of your favorite Yule dishes (see below for dish assignments). We will have a table and various displays about Yule in the middle ages, traditions, mythologies, and other histories. Please, share some of your favorites with us with pictures, posters, books, printouts, or objects...

As the day goes by, please plan on feeling like a kid again as we have games, classes, competitions and merriment planned...

This is a potluck event, we will be providing Turkey and Ham, so please bring a potluck dish to feed 10 (ten), by mundane Last Name: 

A - J -- Vegetable, Salad or Fruit Dish

K - R -- Side Dish

S - Z -- Dessert Dish

Classes: More information to come later, but there will be multiple classes throughout the day, including a class on traditional Yule Foods.  If you would like to teach a class, please contact the autocrat.

Page School: As always, Page School is planning lots of fun and merriment!

Games:

Snowball fight (You won’t need your mittens for this one!!!)

Snowman building: Plan a team of 4 or 5 people and you can supply up to 4 items of your own to decorate your human size snowman (We will supply other decor)

Cake Walk: Bring your sweet tooth!

Bring your favorite games to share with everyone!!

Bardic:

Please share with us your favorite Yule songs, poems, or stories during the feast.

Toy's for Tots and raffle: There will be a nice sewing machine table up for raffle. to get tickets, you can purchase them at the event or you can earn a free one by bringing an unopened toy for a Toys for Tots donation.

Silent Auction: We will be holding a silent auction throughout the day. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact the autocrat ASAP

There will be competitions: 

Blue Bowl: Bring a creative dish using dried fruits, nuts, and either rose water or orange blossom water

Best Table Decor: The theme is Yuletime traditions and games...make it fun and festive!

Best Toast: To re-living childhood and Yule traditions or to our New Baron and Baroness who will be having their first event as such!

Guessing Jars: Can you guess how many are there?

Scavenger hunt: Learn more of Yuletime as you explore...

Site Information:  Manteca senior center, 295 Cherry Lane, Manteca, CA 95337.  This is a dry site.

Site open: 10:00 a.m. Site close 10:00 p.m.

Directions: 

From Sacramento, the Bay Area, and the West San Joaquin Valley: Take your best route to I - 5, Manteca. Take Hwy 120 East. exit on Union Road and turn left, crossing over the overpass. **You will pass Yosemite Avenue, then turn right on Center Street, turn Left onto Cherry Lane. The site is on the Left side of the Street just past the Manteca Police Department. From Modesto and all points South East: Take Hwy 99 North. Take the Hwy 120 West exit towards San Francisco. Take the Union Road exit. Turn right onto Union. follow from **. From Lodi, Elk Grove and all points North East: Take Hwy 99 South. Take the manteca / Main Street exit. Go about d1.5 miles and turn right onto center Street. turn right onto Cherry Lane. The site is on the left, just past the Manteca Police Department.
