31st Annual Protectorate Tournament

Saturday August 16th, 2014 to Sunday August 17th, 2014
Arroyo Grande, California

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Once again it is time to bestow, by right of arms, the title of the Lady of Love and Beauty (or Lord of Love and Honor) upon your consort. Come join us for a day filled with pageantry, thrills and heart-pounding combat. Show your valor and exceptional bravery on the Field of Honor! Let your battle cry ring out as you conquer your opponents and place the wreath of victory upon your consort! Your mark shall be placed upon the Baldric and your consort will be revered and honored at our 31st annual Court of Love!

This year's Protectorate Tourney is only open to local fighters, but the Fabulous Prize Tourney is open to all. Fighting begins at 11:00 am.

All Protectorate entrants must have a consort present to be eligible, but no consort is needed for the Fabulous Prize Tourney. Activities for the small ones will be available.

Contests:

BEST: Death; Salute to Consort; Salute to Opponent; Grieving; Most Chivalrous and Fighter's Garb (worn).

Food Contests: Most delectable Pasty (a "pasty" is a dish-less pie filled with meat which can be beef, pork, venison, fowl, or a mixture of those meats). Most creative and most tasty medieval dessert in any way shape or form. Please label and advise autocrat if any edible item contains coconut, strawberry, turmeric or walnuts because of food allergies.

Bardic contest TBA at event.

Potluck: - bring your favorite BBQ item, and a dish to serve 8, as follows (by legal last name):

A-H: appetizers/salads/soups);

I-P: Side or Main Dish;

Q-Z: desserts.

The Canton will provide bread and charcoal for the potluck & BBQ will be after the fighting. Specialty dishes are welcome.

Directions heading North or South on Highway 101:

Take Grand Avenue exit in Arroyo Grande. Turn east toward Lopez Lake and drive through old town Arroyo Grande to Huasna Road. Turn right onto Huasna Road/Lopez Lake Drive and go approx 6 miles to Biddle Regional Park. The Park entrance will be on the right side of the road.

Directions from Johnson Ave. and Orcutt Road:

From the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Orcutt Road in San Luis Obispo, drive about 1 mile to Tank Farm Road. Turn left on Orcutt Road and follow it for 7.9 miles to Huasna Road/Lopez Lake Drive, turn left and go 1.2 miles. The park entrance is on the right side of the road
